Volunteering Makes You More Employable

In the current economic climate, job seekers need every advantage they can get, and it seems that voluntering during your gap year can give you the edge.

With so many qualified candidates applying for the same jobs, it is important you have something on your CV to make you stand out, and volunteering is very popular with employers. Kevin Jobsky, Marketing Director for ICM, said "It's an important quality in a person. Anytime we can see that that person is a go-getter and I think volunteering shows that. We would be more willing to look at them. I mean, certainly, it's going to depend a lot on their skill sets, but it may get them into the door."

This is especially true if you're able to volunteer doing something related to your chosen career.
