Tom Palmer's Gap Year
23 September 2011
When England rugby star, Tom Palmer, decided he wanted to become a professional rugby player, he took a gap year in New Zealand.
Writing in the Evening Standard from New Zealand he said "I reasoned there was no better place to improve than New Zealand and I set about finding a way to come out here on a gap year to play a rugby season before starting university."
Tom spent his gap year attending Otago Boys, one of New Zealand's top Rugby schools, "While I can see that spending your gap year at boarding school wouldn't be the first choice for most people, I had a fantastic time."
This week Tom returned to his old school to take part in a training session with the school's rugby team.
