Improving pound good news for Europe gap travellers

Those considering a gap year in the eurozone will be pleased to hear that their pounds will stretch further than they did in the middle of the recession. Following the recent volcanic ash that prevented people from travelling around Europe, the pound's increasing strength against the euro is expected to encourage travel from the UK into the eurozone. Sharon Livingston, editor of thetravelmagazine.net, suggested that: "If the pound continues to improve - although slowly - this will inspire more travel into the eurozone."
Sarah Munro, head of travel money at the Post Office, highlighted the financial benefits for UK travellers in the eurozone, saying that they will have "2.4 per cent more euro for their pounds than in 2009," and those spending their gap year abroad may also find that living costs have dropped in some eurozone countries since last year.
