Gap Year sailor completes Captain Bligh's 4,000-mile voyage

18-year old gap year student Chris Wilde from Warwick has completed the epic journey that Captain Bligh made 221 years ago following mutiny on the HMS Bounty. The student completed the challenge alongside three other men, having answered a newspaper appeal after one of the crew members dropped out due to appendicitis.

The team arrived in Kupang, west Timor on Tuesday, following almost seven weeks sailing the 25ft-long Talisker Bounty Boat from the coast of Tonga, where Captain Bligh and his sailors started their journey in 1789. Simulating Bligh's epic journey, the sailors were pushed to their limits with only two weeks' water, hardly any food and no navigation charts.
