How to use the directory to find the right gap year placement or training course

This section allows you to specify the type of programme or course that you are looking for:

Volunteer Placements - click here if you are looking to do some form of voluntary work that can make a difference in an overseas developing country or a local community closer to home

Teaching Placements - gain valuable teaching experience working within a school, nursery or childcare project abroad

Training Courses - learn a new skill, launch a new career or get an internationally recognised professional qualification that can help you work & travel abroad

Language Courses - learn a language on location taking a course that immerses you in the local culture. Including residential language school tuition and homestay courses

Work Placements - gain vocational work experience as part of your course or take a year out to further your career

Expeditions - from organised 1 week adventure expeditions to longer term conservation-based expeditions

Ski / Snowboard - improve your ski or snowboard skills with 1-6 month tuition programmes. Some programmes also offer courses that lead to internationally recognised instructor qualifications

Sports / Adventure - improve your skills in your favourite sport, gain qualifications or even learn a new sport. There are programmes available in alll kinds of sport & adventure activities

Conservation Placements - help to save special environments and wildlife worldwide

Community Placements - make a real difference to communities in the developing world or closer to home in the UK. Projects range from aid projects to health education projects to community care
